India is calling on Pakistan to prosecute the architects of the 2008 attack on the financial capital of Mumbai as a major step toward confidence building in their renewed peace efforts.
The foreign secretaries of the two countries told reporters Thursday after meeting the day before that the two nuclear-armed neighbors were committed to working toward resolving their six-decade-old conflict.
Indian Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai said he told his Pakistani counterpart that terror was the biggest threat to regional peace and urged him to bring those behind the Mumbai siege to justice.
The talks came a week after India arrested a suspect in the attacks who said Pakistani intelligence agents helped coordinate the assault.
